The Charlton Fire Department District #1 would like to thank the citizens who have attended their public forums held on 5/31/18, 7/12/18, 9/20/18 and 1/17/19. The community’s support and input have been invaluable and appreciated while the Building Committee evaluated the viable options to determine the best solution for providing the districts fire protection needs now, and in the years ahead. The Committee looked at 8 different options ranging from the renovation and repair of the existing station to the construction of a new station at a new site.  All options were evaluated, the feasibility study has been completed and the findings were presented to the public. It was determined by the committee, along with the exit poll results from the public forum, that construction of a new facility at the Charlton Road/Peaceable St. location currently owned by the fire district is the best viable option.

The district has engaged a civil site engineer and a design architect to provide the schematic design necessary to proceed to a public referendum vote in March 2019. The committee will continue to hold public forums to keep the community informed with the next one scheduled for February 28, 2019 @ 7:00 pm at the fire station.
