About Us

The Charlton Volunteer Fire Department is an all-volunteer organization that provides fire, EMS, and rescue services to the residents of Charlton Fire District #1. Established in 1922, the Charlton Fire Department has continued to be progressive in providing high quality emergency services to the residents of our district and neighboring communities.

The Charlton Fire Department is led by Fire Chief Christian DeCapria and Assistant Chief Aaron Dyer. The Charlton Fire Department has seen much growth since 1922, only doing a few fire calls a year then. Today, we respond to over 200 calls a year and our call volume continues to grow each year. With that growth in our call volume we have grown as a Fire Department as well. We continuously train to maintain the high standards that are expected of us when a resident dials 911. We are also one of the most progressive EMS first response fire departments in Saratoga County.

In addition to responding to calls in the Charlton Fire District #1, we also help our neighboring fire departments and communities. In 2017 we began responding to the fire districts of West Charlton and Harmony Corners 24/7 for all structure fires, fire alarms and car accidents. We also respond when requested to East Glenville and Burnt Hills Fire Districts.

We remain committed to protecting our community 24/7, 365 days a year with a volunteer base of personnel. We are always looking for new members to help us to serve our community. If you have ever wondered what it takes, or you want to know more about your fire department, stop by our station at 786 Charlton Road any Monday night at 7pm. Or just contact us by email or phone.

We are always looking for new members. If interested, please fill out an application.
